DIY Plant Propagation Wall
Do you love plants as much as me and want to grow more plant babies, without buying more? You need to propagate! I’ve been looking for a really beautiful way to add more plants to my painting studio, without compromising space and $$.
THE INSPO
I stumbled upon Christine’s plant wall from @forthehome and it is SO stunning. I got to work right away to replicate this look in my studio ♡
My plants at home are overflowing, so I gathered some cuttings and set out to look for an affordable, minimalist plant system. Nothing fit my vision and the only thing that came close was $15 for a set of two! And I needed at least 9-12 tubes minimum - so I knew I had to DIY. There’s a lot of methods, so I compiled what worked best for me. Some ppl use glue, magnets etc. - but I think velcro command strips are the cheapest, fastest and sturdiest. I hope this guide helps you create your own! We love our plant wall and will probably add even more over time.
Materials:
- Level
- Measuring Tape
- Pencil
- Plant Cuttings of your choice - I used Rubber Tree, Monstera, Philodendrens, Money Tree.
Steps:
- Mark the placement of your tubes on the wall with pencil - I spaced mine about 14 inches apart.
- Cut and attach all Velcro command strips for the wall and adhere. Let bond for 45 min or so.
- Adhere the other set of strips to your tubes. I put them on about 1in down on the tube so weight was distributed evenly.
- Once tubes are ready, with a narrow lipped water bottle, fill your tubes with water. I filled about an inch from the top so there was no spilling.
- Hang all tubes! The velcro is super strong and grips tight. I eyeballed some of the placements.
- Adjust and straighten tubes as needed. Insert your cute plant cuttings. Your work is done!
Enjoy friends ♡
